Kyoto Button Down Dress - Trenna

Classic Button Down Dress made from the Thomas Paul line of Michael Miller Fabrics entitled "Kyoto."  Made for Trenna Travis Design Studio by Emerald and is in the spring catalog for Michael Miller fabrics.  I made it from the Vogue pattern #V8903 and as you can see by the markings on the pattern, she made style C only shortening it to the shorter length.

The way it looked hanging on the hanger didn't do it justice, so I asked my 12 year old to try it on.  Much better.  Although the size fit her, she didn't fill it out as a woman would (for good reason), but it was still better than the hanger.  When I saw the photos that Trenna took, my appreciation increased some more.  She certainly knows what she's doing!

The pillows in the photo below are ones I made for the shoot.  See the Thomas Paul Pillows posting (that I'll post in a couple days) on my blog.

Swan Lake Little Girl's Shirt - Trenna

This little shirt was made from the stikeoff or sample yardage. That is when the company prints off a small amount of the fabric before doing a full run.  We had a little less than half a yard when the Burda pattern #9490 called for more than a yard.  I simply made it a little less full and made the straps from a different, complimentary fabric.

All fabric is from Michael Miller.  The main fabric used was Swan Lake - midnight and the complimentary fabric I used for the straps was Bitty Dots - Luna.  I made this for Trenna Travis Design Studio and it appears with the other items I've been posting in the Spring 2015 Michael Miller catalog.

Cotton Couture Duvet & Pillow Covers - Trenna

I lost count of the number of hours that this duvet alone took me, but it was WAY longer than I anticipated and too much of the short 3 days I had to do not only this, but several other items as well.  There was no pattern just a computer generated plan that was shaped more like a twin rather than a queen.  I drew a grid on the "pattern" and used that to help me estimate  the size of pieces to cut.  I also had two pillows to make as well with the same Michael Miller cotton couture fabric which are at the top of the paper diagram.

I apologize for the mess and the direct sunlight coming through the window distorting the colors.  I would have laid it outside on the ground but the ground was wet.

Retro Floral Dishtowels - Trenna

As part of the Michael Miller Retro Floral Collection, these were made from Francie, Rosy Dots, and Faye for Trenna Travis Design Studio. There was no pattern, so I measured a few of my dish towels and took what seemed to be an average size.  They are lined with white fabric and bound with Norma fabric in different colors.

Glitzy Diamonds Slacks - Trenna

These slacks I made from Michael Miller's Glitzy Diamonds fabric using the Burda pattern # 6966 for Trenna Travis Design Studio.  At the bottom is one of the photos Trenna took.

One thing to bare in mind with all the pictures I'm posting right now is that all the Glitzy collection, all the Retro Garden collection, and all the Cotton Couture collection had to be made and completed in less than 3 days.  I got the things Wednesday afternoon and they had to be to FedEx by Saturday no later than 4:00.  That was an insane 2-3/4 days!

Then all the Indigo collection, the geometric and Glitz Bars pillows, all the Thomas Paul collections, and Swan Lake had to be over-nighted Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the next week. But, I'm sure I'll tell you all about that when I get to it.  Thus the reason I ask my mother and sister, Emerald to help me at times like these.

Glitz Garden Bathrobe - Trenna

Bathrobe my mother made for Trenna Travis Design Studio from the Michael Miller Glitz Garden fabric.  As is the case with many things, the amount of fabric they sent to Trenna was less (and in this case, far less) than the amount called for on the pattern (Butterick #6837).  To make the bathrobe, the pattern called for nearly 5 yards.  We had 3 yards.  She made do by shortening the bathrobe and leaving off one of the pockets.  At the bottom is one of the pictures Trenna took to showcase the fabric.
