Carol's Mother's Scrappy Squares Quilt in a Variety of Fabrics

This quilt of Carol’s was hand sewn by her mother out of scraps from clothes of many varieties of fabrics. The batting was a flannel sheet and the back was also a sheet, but those were the supplies the mom had planned for it, so that’s what we used.

Using invisible Essence thread (Glide) on the front and navy MicroQuilter on the back, I sewed X’s in each square.

She also asked me to sew the binding onto the front for her to hand stitch to the back.

Sarah's Memory Quilt for Drake

This beauty of a memory quilt was commissioned by Sarah for her son who graduated this past year. She gave me carte blanche on how I designed/made it, though when asked, she did say that La Crosse was his most important sport, so that is in the center area.

It was a challenge to find a green that matched both shades of green, but I’m so pleased with how it turned out. I quilted it in a large meander with Essence invisible thread on the top and dark gray Bottom Line on the back.

(Note: the apparent splotch on the back is the sun shining through the quilt.)

Carol's Scrappy Tumbling Block Quilt

Scrappy Tumbling Blocks quilt by Carol. Hand pieced from old clothes, etc. of all types of materials. She has originally planned to hand quilt it so the back was the same size as the front. This makes it extremely hard for a longarmer as we need extra backing to put it on the longarm. I did it, but it made it so I couldn’t quilt all the way to the edge top and bottom and the curves aren’t as smooth on the sides.

Hand guided, free handed quilting. I quilted it using Essence invisible thread on the top and navy Glide 60 on the back. The brown is the binding, sewn only to the front as she will hand stitch it to the back.
