Holly's Baby and Queen Quilts

Here is Holly's baby quilt. Though I made the tops for both the baby and queen sized quilts some 7 months before she was born, I designed the quilts 12 plus years before that. Then I found the border fabric and knew it was the perfect fabric for my design. If my child would have been a girl, this would have been her quilt. Instead, it goes to my first grand daughter. We named the design "Dream Wave."

I quilted it with Glide Tabriz Orchid thread on the top and Cream Glide 60 on the back. I loved the pantograph from Urban Elementz named "Time Warp" and wanted it to have that same feel, but I also wanted it to fit exactly in the diamonds.

This shows a close up of the quilting from the back. You can see the border pretty well.

Just so you know, centering a design on the back like this is SO HARD on a longarm. After promising this, I regretted it so much! It looks great, but a huge pain in the battooty to do.

This queen size quilt matches the baby quilt and will be given to her for her 8th birthday. You may think it's crazy for me to be this far ahead, but actually it's much easier to do them at the same time/back to back. Even with a few months between doing the two, I lost the groove/muscle memory of how to quilt it and it took some time (and unpicking) to get it back.

With the border being wider, I had to add a little something in the middle of the ribbons. My sister suggested holly leaves since her name is Holly. Perfect! I like how it turned out.

A matching pillow case is to store the quilt in. This keeps the dust off and still lets the quilt breath.

Linda's Purple Butterfly Quilt

Linda commissioned this quilt for a dear friend who was retiring. The butterfly had an inside symbolism for them, so butterflies on front, back and I designed a butterfly pantograph for it, which I call, "Beautiful Butterflies."

I quilted it using Grape Glide on the top and Purple Micro Quilter thread on the back.
