Indigo Yoked Man's Shirt - Trenna

My mother made this shirt for Trenna Travis Design Studio from the Michael Miller Indigo collection.  The fabric used was called Yukie and the pattern was Burda #7525 style C.

Here again, my son was willing to try it on for me to take a picture, but really wasn't thrilled with the style.  But the pictures in the Spring 2015 Michael Miller catalog are fabulous!

Indigo Man's Shirt - Trenna

This man's shirt was made by my sister, Emerald for Trenna Travis Design Studio from the fabric called Yukiko in the Michael Miller Fabric's Indigo collection.  We used Simplicity pattern #1544.

I asked my son to try it on for me to take a picture and give us a better idea how it looked which he graciously did.  He's more of a t-shirt kind of guy and this was a little too stylin' for him.  ;-)

Indigo Jumpsuit - Trenna

This jumpsuit was made from the fabric called Sashiko from the Michael Miller Indigo Fabric Collection for Trenna Travis Design Studio.  The pattern used was  Simplicity's Project Runway #S0836 and the design we used is the one circled in the picture.

Though in the catalog this jumpsuit looks fabulous, this was not my favorite outfit, nor was it my daughter's.  When I asked her to try it on, she didn't feel comfortable coming out the bathroom with it on.  So, with her clothes on, I asked her to stick her hands through the sleeves, tied a belt around her waist and we tucked it around her as if she was wearing it.  It looked better than when it was hanging on the hanger.

There was not enough fabric sent for us to make the sash, so Trenna made do with a different belt.

Euro Tassled Pillows in Indigo - Trenna

Two tasseled euro (26" x 26") pillows I made from the Michael Miller Indigo fabric collection for Trenna Travis Design Studios.  These fabrics are called Yoshio and Vine Maze.

The trickiest part of making these was that Trenna got some tasseled scarves to use as the tassels and back of these pillows, but the scarves were bigger than the pillows were to be and to make the envelope backs, I would have to cut the scarves and put seams in the middle, thus making them no longer square, but rectangular once they were put back together.  In then end, the solution was to simply cut off the edges of the scarves and insert the tasseled strips in the side of the pillows.  May I just say that it drove me a bit crazy with the fact that the tassels were not evenly spaced along the edges of the scarves.

Matrix, Glitz Bars and Starburst Pillows - Trenna

During that crazy two weeks of sewing (15 hour days of sewing using a stopwatch), more fabric was brought over with instructions to make the pillows and overnight them so they could be there in the morning for a photo shoot.  It's not that the pillows were difficult, just an addition to what was already overwhelming.

The Starburst and Matrix fabrics were strikeoffs or sample yardage where there's only a small sample printed of the pattern.  The large 22x40" Starburst used all the fabric I had for the front and we put some of the left over cotton couture fabric for the back.

20" x 20" pillows in the Glitz Bars.

A 20" x 20" pillow made from the Matrix fabric.  Making it an envelope back pillow used up all the fabric they game me.
