Another unusual client request that took more thinking and planning than the actual sewing. She had a baby sized afghan her mother had made as well as 2 thin towels with grandkids’ photos printed on them. One towel was too tall, so the top 2 items needed to be appliquéd elsewhere - one into the center of the heart and the sun into the sky of the central photo, then the whole towel sewn to one side of the afghan. The other towel was to be made a little smaller and sewn to the center of the other side. (See the next two photos.)
If that had been all, I could have finished it much sooner, but nnnooo, I had to ask about batting and quilting since that’s what my business is all about. She liked the idea of the people having some poof to them, but not the background. So then I had to figure out how to trapunto it. There was definitely an order of operations that I had to figure out to make it work, but it’s done and she’s happy.
