Double Disappearing 9-Patch Baby Quilt in Orange and Blue

My quilt guild gave us a challenge to make a baby quilt using a “disappearing” block method. “What is that,” you say? You take a basic block sewn together in the traditional way (e.g. 9-patch, 4-patch, hour glass, pinwheel), then cut it up, often in quarters or 9ths. For this one, I took a 9-patch (3x3, think tic-tac-to) then cut it in quarters.

Since I had just made one for my grandson, I took some of the leftover disappearing 9-patch blocks and threw it this together. I took some time on the quilting with feathers and ruler work, but just wait until you see what my sister, Emerald made for the challenge! (Will be my next post).
