Emerald's Disappearing Pinwheel Quilt - Celtic Rose

My quilt guild gave us a challenge to make a baby quilt using a “disappearing” block method. What is that?, you say? You take a basic block sewn together in the traditional way, then cut it up, often in quarters or 9ths.

For this one, my sister, Emerald took 4 identical pinwheels (see her back for the blocks she started with), and cut them into 9ths, like a tic-tac-toe and rearranged them into the Celtic Rose. She got this pattern from “The Questioning Quilter.” I quilted it with a freehand c-curl design. By the way, she won the prize at the guild.
